Muscle Cramps and Home Remedies!

Muscle cramps come when the muscle needs rest or nutrition.. give them what they need.

Over use your muscles in any way; contort them in an unnatural position for too long or fail to give them the hydration and nutrition they need and they will let you know about it with a painful cramp!

For fast relief try some or all of the following home remedies.

Put an end to Muscle Cramps
  • If you exercise you need to warm up your body and regularly stretch it to keep muscles from cramping during and after exercise.
  • Dehydration is a major contributor to cramping. You should be drinking a tall glass of water as soon as you wake up, and a glass ever hour until 3 hours before bed. Anytime you are about to do any strenuous activity be sure to take 16 - 20 ounces (400 - 500 ml) of water in addition to your hourly drink. If you already feel thirsty your body has been dehydrated for sometime.

  • For chronic cramping take apple cider vinegar. This vinegar has vitamin E and many useful minerals which have been shown to relieve cramping. Take 2 teaspoons in a tall glass of water in the morning and again at night. You can also put a cup into your bath for additional benefit.

  • Take 2 teaspoons of cold pressed, virgin olive oil everyday. You can put it in your food or on your salad. This oil is a good source of vitamin E which has been found to be in low supply for many who suffer chronic cramping.

  • If the liver is not working well you may not be metabolizing your vitamins and minerals. So even if you are eating a healthy diet it`s possible you could be malnourished. Among other symptoms, muscle cramping would be an inevitable result. Do a body or liver detox to restore good liver function.

  • Magnesium is an important mineral and if lacking it can cause muscle cramping. This mineral is also responsible for helping the body metabolize potassium and calcium allowing the muscles to absorb these minerals. Eat more foods high in this and the other minerals mentioned and watch the cramps become a distant memory.

  • Include more mineral rich food and you`ll soon be enjoying freedom from chronic cramping. Tofu is an excellent source of magnesium, 35% of your daily needs in a single serving. Miso soup is also chalked full of healthy minerals. Add some sea weeds and sea vegetation and you`ll soon be mineral rich.

  • Take a relaxing bath with epsom salt. This salt has magnesium which promotes muscle relaxation. Add in some lavender essential oil and watch more then your cramping disappear, but with it all the days tension.

  • For a great herbal treatment try wintergreen oil. Wintergreen has a component chemically similar to the natural agent used to make aspirin. Mix this using 20% wintergreen oil and 80% olive oil and massage the area experiencing muscle cramps.

All illness is an imbalance in body, mind and spirit. Regain balance by eating more fish, fresh vegetables and fruit, nuts, seeds and sea vegetation. Practice daily meditation and deep breathing. Pray and actively practice a spiritual faith of your choosing.
